What To Do if a Tooth Gets Knocked Out
A knocked-out tooth is one of the most time-sensitive dental emergencies. In some cases, the tooth may be able to be saved, but acting quickly is important. What you do in the first few minutes can make a real difference in whether the tooth can be placed back successfully.
If a tooth gets knocked out, pick it up by the crown and try not to touch the root. If it's dirty, rinse it gently with water, but do not scrub it or dry it off. The tooth should be kept moist in milk or saliva until you can get to the dentist. Calling right away and getting seen as soon as possible gives you the best chance of saving the tooth.
